Audience: League Directors | Level: Intermediate | Requires: Existing Single Round event
Quick Answer
Convert a Single Round event to Advanced by going to League Tools β Events β Select event β Edit β Tap "Make this an advanced event" in the top right. This enables multi-round, multi-pool, and multi-layout support. Warning: This conversion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
β οΈ Before You Convert: Important Information
What You Gain with Advanced Events
Advanced events unlock:
β Multi-pool support - Different divisions can play different layouts
β Multi-round capability - Run tournaments with multiple rounds
β Multiple layouts - Use different courses or layouts per round
β Detailed card management - More control over card assignments
What You Lose
Converting removes:
β Recurrence support - Advanced events cannot be set to recur weekly
β Ability to convert back - This is a permanent, one-way change
β οΈ Critical Warning: Once you convert to an Advanced event, you cannot convert it back to a Single Round event. Make sure you need Advanced features before converting.
π― When to Convert to Advanced
β Good Reasons to Convert:
You need multiple pools
MA1 and FA1 play the "Gold" layout
MA2 and FA2 play the "Silver" layout
Each division needs different challenges
You're running a tournament within your league
Multi-round championship event
Part of your weekly league schedule
Needs advanced settings but should stay in your league
You need multiple rounds
Adding a second round to an existing event
Running a two-day tournament
β Don't Convert If:
You want weekly recurring events
Stick with Casual sign up or Formal sign up templates
These support recurrence
You might change your mind
No undo option exists
Create a new Advanced event instead of converting
You just need basic features
Single Round templates handle most weekly leagues perfectly
Only convert if you truly need Advanced

β Course and layout (becomes Round 1)
β Divisions
β Player registrations (if any)
β Event settings and rules
Changes:
βοΈ Event is now in Advanced mode
βοΈ New configuration options become available
βοΈ Recurrence, if set up as a recurring event series, is disconnected from other events
β° When to Convert
Best Time to Convert:
Before players register
Easier to set up pools and rounds without registrations
Less chance of confusion
Before event day
Never convert during an active event
Give yourself time to configure Advanced settings
Can Convert Any Time:
After event creation
Yes, you can convert at any point before the event starts
After players have registered
Yes, but be careful - registrations are preserved
You may need to reassign players to pools
β οΈ Cannot convert after event has started - Once an event is live, it cannot be converted to Advanced. Convert before your event date.
β Common Questions
Q: Can I convert back to a Single Round event?
A: No. Converting to Advanced is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you need to go back, you'll need to create a new Single Round event and recreate your settings.
Q: Will I lose player registrations when I convert?
A: No. Existing registrations are preserved when you convert.
Q: Can I still use recurrence after converting?
A: No. Advanced events do not support recurrence. You'll need to manually create each event or duplicate events.
Q: What if I convert and realize I don't need Advanced features?
A: You can still run the event normally - you just won't use the Advanced features. For future events, use Single Round templates instead.
Q: Can I convert an event that's part of a recurring series?
A: Yes, but only that specific event will convert. Other events in the series remain Single Round format.
Q: Do I need to convert to use pre-registration?
A: No! The Formal sign up template supports pre-registration without needing Advanced features.
Q: Do I need to convert to create cards for players? A: No! Single Round events support card creation. Only convert if you need pools, multi-round, or multi-layout features.
