🚨 App crashes, freezes, or won't open

If the UDisc app is crashing, freezing, or won't open on your device, this article will walk you through troubleshooting steps to get you back on the course.

Quick answer

Most app crashes are resolved by restarting the app and your device, checking for updates, or reinstalling the app. Follow the steps below in order for the best results.

Common issues & solutions

App crashes immediately when opening

Try these steps in order:

  1. Force close and restart the app
On iPhone: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-click the home button), find UDisc in the app switcher, swipe up to close it, wait 10 seconds, then reopen.
On Android: Tap the Recent Apps button, find UDisc and swipe it away (or go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ UDisc β†’ Force Stop), wait 10 seconds, then reopen.

  2. Restart your device β€” turn your phone completely off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on, then open UDisc.

  3. Check for app updates
On iPhone: Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, scroll down to see pending updates, and tap Update if UDisc has one.
On Android: Open Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, tap Manage apps & device, and update UDisc if available.

  4. Check your device's operating system β€” make sure your iOS or Android is up to date.
iOS: Settings β†’ General β†’ Software Update
Android: Settings β†’ System β†’ System update

  5. Clear app cache (Android only) β€” go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ UDisc β†’ Storage and tap Clear Cache (not Clear Storage).

  6. Reinstall the app

Note: If you're a UDisc Pro subscriber, your subscription is tied to your account, not the app. You won't lose your subscription by reinstalling. All scorecards, stats, and account info that have been uploaded will sync when you log back in.

Delete the UDisc app, restart your device, reinstall from the App Store or Google Play, then log back in.

App freezes or becomes unresponsive during use

  1. Force close the app β€” follow the force close steps above, then reopen UDisc.

  2. Check your storage space β€” you need at least 500 MB free.
iOS: Settings β†’ General β†’ iPhone Storage
    Android: Settings β†’ Storage

  3. Close background apps β€” too many apps running can cause performance issues. Close unused apps and restart your device.

  4. Check for updates β€” make sure both UDisc and your device OS are up to date.

App opens but immediately closes (crashes on launch)

This often indicates a corrupted installation or compatibility issue.

  1. Check device compatibility β€” verify your device meets minimum requirements.

  2. Clear app data (Android only, last resort) β€” go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ UDisc β†’ Storage β†’ Clear Data, then reopen and log in.

Important: This will remove any locally stored data that hasn't synced to the cloud.

  3. Reinstall the app β€” delete UDisc completely, restart your device, reinstall from your app store, then log in to sync your data. (iOS players: use this step instead of Clear Data.)

App crashes only when using specific options

  1. Try the option in a different context β€” if scorecards crash, try creating a new test scorecard. If it works, the issue may be with specific existing data.

  2. Check option-specific requirements β€” some options require a UDisc Pro subscription, an internet connection, or GPS/location enabled.

"UDisc has stopped responding" error (Android)

  1. Wait a moment β€” if a "Wait" option appears, try waiting first. Sometimes the app recovers on its own.

  2. Force close β€” tap Close app, then follow the force close steps above.

  3. Clear cache and data β€” go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ UDisc β†’ Storage. Clear Cache first and test. If still crashing, Clear Data, then reopen and log in.

Additional troubleshooting

Check for interference from other apps

Some apps can cause conflicts β€” try temporarily disabling VPN apps, battery saver apps, security or antivirus apps, and screen overlay apps.

Check permissions

Make sure UDisc has the necessary permissions enabled.
iPhone: Settings β†’ UDisc β€” enable Location, Notifications, Photos, and Camera as needed.
Android: Settings β†’ Apps β†’ UDisc β†’ Permissions β€” enable Location, Storage, and Camera as needed.

Network issues

If crashes happen when loading data, check your internet connection and try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
