🧺 How to List a Bring Your Own Basket (BYOB) or Special Events Course on UDisc

Learn how to correctly list a course that requires players to bring their own baskets, is being used temporarily, or one that's only available during specific events or tournaments.

⚑ Quick Answer

Select "Bring your own baskets" in the Availability section when listing a BYOB course β€” this automatically sets access to Invite Only so players won't show up unexpectedly. For courses only available during specific events, select "Special events," set the status to Unavailable, and enter your open and close dates. Both course types have full access to Course tools, scorecards, and stats, and can always be found by searching for the course name in the app.

🧺 Bring Your Own Basket (BYOB) Courses

A BYOB course is one where no permanent targets are installed. Players bring their own portable baskets to set up and play.

βš™οΈ How to list a BYOB course

When adding your course, go to Step 2: Availability and select "Bring your own baskets."

Selecting this option automatically sets your course access to Invite Only. This means:

  • πŸ™ˆ The course will not appear on the public map or course list

  • πŸ” Players can still find the course by searching for it by name in the app

  • βœ… The course is hidden from public view to prevent players from showing up when targets aren't set up

ℹ️ Even as an Invite Only course, it still has full access to all Course tools β€” including mapping, scorecards, and stats. Players can record rounds just like on any other course.

⬆️ Upgrading a BYOB course to a publicly listed course

Once at least 3 permanent targets are installed and the course is accessible to the public, you can open it up:

  1. Go to your course's Course tools

  2. Navigate to Edit course β†’ Availability

  3. Set "Bring your own baskets" to No

  4. Go to Step 3: Access and update to Everyone or Limited Access (dependent on access type)

This will make the course publicly visible on the Course Directory map and course list.

πŸ—“οΈ Special Events Courses

A special events course is one that's only available for play during specific events or tournaments, and is not open for general play the rest of the year. If you're looking to list a temporary or pop-up course, this is the right option.

βš™οΈ How to list a special events course

When adding your course, go to Step 2: Availability and:

  1. Under "Is the course currently available for play?" select Unavailable β€” this keeps the course hidden until your event is ready

  2. Under "When is the course normally available to play?" select Special events

  3. Set your Open date and Close date so players know exactly when the course will be active

ℹ️ Setting the course to Unavailable until your event begins prevents players from arriving early. Once the event is ready, update the status to Available in your Course tools.

πŸ“£ Sharing your BYOB or Special Events course with players

Since a BYOB course won't appear on the public map, here are some easy ways to help players find it. The same options apply for Special Events courses:

  • πŸ” Share the course name so players can search for it directly in the app

  • πŸ”— Share the course app link β€” tap into your course listing in the app and hit the share icon at the top of the screen, then copy or select the app to send it through

  • πŸͺ§ Download and print a course sign β€” every course on UDisc, including BYOB, invite only, and special events courses, can download a free course sign from Course tools β†’ Course signs. The sign includes a QR code that links directly to your course page in the app. See πŸͺ§ How Do I Order a UDisc Course Sign? for download and ordering instructions.

βœ… Do All Course Types Have the Same Tools?

Regardless of how a course is listed, every course on UDisc has access to the same features. As a Course Ambassador, you have access to:

  • Course tools β€” mapping, scorecards, layouts, and stats

  • Course signs β€” a free downloadable sign with a QR code linking directly to the course page

  • Course stats β€” all course types collect stats displayed in the Statistics tab of your Course tools

  • In-app play β€” players can record rounds just like on any other course

The main difference is discoverability. BYOB and special events courses won't appear on the public map or list, but can always be found by searching for the course name in the app.
