Position names
Every tee and target position in Map Manager requires a unique name. Position names are universal across your course — the same names apply to every hole — so keep them simple and avoid hole-specific details.
Target position names
Target position names identify each spot a basket can be placed on a hole. For example, "A" for the short position, "B" for mid, and "C" for long. These same position names are used across every hole on the course.
Tee position names
Tee position names identify each tee pad on a hole. If a hole has more than one tee, each must have a unique name. These same names are used across every hole on the course.
Common naming schemes:
🎨 Color (Red, Gold, White, etc.)
📏 Distance (Short, Med, Long, etc.)
🔡 Alphabetical (A, B, C, etc.)
🏅 Difficulty (Pro, Am, Rec, etc.)
Other (Main, Alternate, etc.)
How to change a position name
Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
On the Overview, tap Edit next to Map Settings
Locate the tee or target position you want to rename
Tap the 3 dots on the right and select Edit
Make your changes and tap Confirm
How to fix duplicate position names
Each position on a hole must have a unique name — you can't have two positions on the same hole both called "Main." If this happens:
Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
On the Overview, tap Edit next to Map Settings
Add a new tee or target position name
Once added, assign the new name to the element that needs updating
Target identifiers
Target identifiers describe what type of basket is installed at a target position — including its color, brand, and model. If you've installed new baskets or need to update what's listed, you can replace existing identifiers or add new ones in Map Settings.
Note: Each target identifier represents one physical basket, so it can only be marked as installed at one position at a time. If your course has more than one basket active at once — for example, separate baskets for a Short layout and a Long layout on the same hole — each basket needs its own distinct identifier, even if they're the same brand, color, and model. Give the second one a different custom name (e.g., "Main" and "Alternate") so both positions can show a basket installed at the same time.
How to replace an existing target identifier
Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
Select Map Manager from the left sidebar
On the Overview tab, tap Edit above Map Settings
Tap the 3 dots next to the identifier you want to replace
Select Edit or replace it with a new type
Choose basket or object, then select the color and basket type
Add a custom name if desired and tap Confirm
All targets on the map that used that identifier will be updated automatically.
How to add a new target identifier
Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
Select Map Manager from the left sidebar
On the Overview tab, tap Edit above Map Settings
Select Add target identifier
Choose your color, basket type, and custom name
Tap Confirm
The new identifier will now be available when adding or editing map elements. Once your updates have been made, remember to review and publish your changes.
Tee types
Tee types describe the surface material of each tee pad on your course — for example, Grass, Concrete, or Granite. Each tee pad on the course has its own tee type entry, and you can edit or add them from Map Settings.
How to edit a tee type
Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
On the Overview tab, tap Edit above Map Settings
Scroll down to the Tee types section
Tap the 3 dots next to the tee type you want to change and select Edit
Update the surface type and tap Confirm

Go to Map Manager from your Course Tools at udisc.com/dashboard
On the Overview tab, tap Edit above Map Settings
Scroll down to the Tee types section
Tap Add tee type
Select the surface material and tap Confirm
Common questions
Can I use different position names on different holes?
No — position names are universal across your course. If you name a tee position "A," that name applies to every hole that has an "A" tee. Avoid hole-specific details like "Hole 3 Short" since the same name needs to work for every hole.
What's the difference between a position name and a target identifier?
Position names describe where a tee or basket sits on a hole (e.g. "A," "B," "Pro"). Target identifiers describe what type of basket is physically installed there (e.g. a blue Innova DISCatcher). A single target position can have one name and one identifier — they serve different purposes.
Can I have two baskets active on the same hole at the same time?
Yes — as long as each basket has its own target identifier. If you try to mark two positions as having the same identifier installed at once, updating one will remove it from the other, since an identifier can only be "installed" in one place at a time. Add a second target identifier (see above) for the second basket, then assign each position its own identifier and mark it as installed.

What's the difference between a tee position name and a tee type?
A tee position name identifies which tee a player is teeing from (e.g. "Red," "White," "Pro"). A tee type describes the surface material of that tee pad (e.g. Grass, Concrete, Granite). Both are set in Map Settings but serve different purposes.
